About the Friends of Hālawa Xeriscape Garden

Welcome

The Friends of Halawa Xeriscape Garden (FOHXG) is a non-profit community organization established in 1989 on the island of Oahu (Hawaii) dedicated to educational programs that promote water conservation on the landscape.

Through the Halawa Xeriscape Garden, located in Oahu’s Halawa Valley, the Honolulu Board of Water Supply (BWS) and FOHXG are committed to educating the Oahu community about innovative ways to address outdoor water conservation now and into the future!

Ohana

FOHXG continues to provide support for Halawa Xeriscape Garden through a volunteer program  and educational activities for the Garden’s landscape water conservation initiatives. With many active members, the FOHXG forms a strong and reliable network of like-minded individuals who take outdoor water conservation to new levels!

Workshops

Please see our workshops page for a sampling of mini workshop videos and an overview of past in-person workshops.

Volunteers

Besides learning new skills, FOHXG volunteers enjoy social relationships while providing the garden some TLC. Some volunteers assist at the garden twice a week, while others are regular volunteers for the Annual Open House and Unthirsty Plant Sale!
